How to learn German
German is an excellent Language to learn, whether for Study in Germany, business, Job, travel & tourism or personal reason. If you are willing to learn any language then you are required to put a lot of efforts, hard work, commitment and a willingness to make mistakes, and German is no different. Read below for more tips about learning German.
1. Speak a little German everyday: This is absolutely a best way to learn any new language. Just to speak it. It doesn’t matter if you know only few words or you are fluent. Speaking German with another person without hesitation is the fastest and most effective method of improving the language.
2. Work on pronunciation: Even if you have good command on vocabulary and grammar, the listener may have difficulties to understand you, if your pronunciation is not correct. So work regularly on your pronunciation with the help of Audios and Videos.
3. Expand vocabulary and use idiomatic phrases: The wider vocabulary and more idiomatic phrases help you not only to improve the knowledge of German language, but also give a good impression of your speaking skills and makes learning and speaking interactive.
4. Always carry a dictionary: Carry always a dictionary, whether its paper dictionary or an Application on your Smartphone, it can always be a big help. We offer free German dictionary (Paper/ App) for our A1 Students.
5. Listen German Radio or watch German TV and Podcasts: This is one of the best ways to improve your language comprehension and pronunciation. So listen regularly German Songs, watch German news channel and podcasts on Internet or download it in your Smartphone. Our institute also provides the German language video podcasts free of cost to our students.
6. Regular watching of German Movies and TV shows: This is also another way to learn German comprehension and to have fun with German Language. Our institute also provides the German language series and movies to our students.
7. Read German comics, novels, newspapers and periodicals: Experts say, reading is the very essential part of further learning a foreign language, so never forget to read regular German comics, novels, newspapers and periodicals. We have a good stock of German Story books, novels, regular periodicals and reference books in our library.
8. Write Daily Diary: In addition of reading and listening comprehension, you should also spend at least 15 Minutes per day to write your day diary in German to improve your writing skills, whether you are beginners or experts. We recommend this from Day one (A1 onwards)
9. Find German Language Pen-pal (Brieffreund) or make German Native Friends: Once you have sufficient skill of the language, you could consider getting a German-speaking pen-pal. You could search them in Internet or in social media. We also are working on the same from day one. We invite regular German Natives to create a circle of pen-pal for our regular students. We frequently organize an interactive session between native and our German learners to give them real native touch of German language at GNS.
10. Train yourself to think always in German: Train your mind in German. Think in German, write in German and speak in German. Avoid translation from English to German. Use your existing knowledge of German to frame sentences.
11. Stay motivated: Never give up, stay motivated always to learn German Language, until you achieve your goal.
12. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes: The biggest obstacle that stands in the way of learning a language is the fear of making mistakes.
